What is your writing process like?
I start off with a rough outline, which I don’t get into until after many months of daydreaming and woolgathering. When I have a clear picture of scenes and characters and dialogues, that’s when I start outlining. I usually don’t have the ending yet when I do and sometimes, there are things in the outline that don’t make it in the final draft.
Don’t you just hate it when your characters suddenly stray from the original scene? Ugh.
Is “The Secret Wife” still ongoing?
As of April 2024, yes. It is still ongoing. Don’t worry! This is one of my stories which already has an ending. I’m not going to keep it going forever and ever.
I’d like to get a soft copy of “The Secret Wife.” Where can I get one?
I do plan in releasing it when all the episodes are released in Patreon. After two or three months it’s been completed in Patreon, I’ll publish it in Amazon Kindle. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for that one! (Tip: You can subscribe to my newsletter to stay in the know.)
Are you currently taking writing projects?
I’m always open to getting more writing projects. You can check out my portfolio at Polywork or just shoot me an email.
Cats or dogs?
Please don’t ever ask me this. I beg of you. Histrionics aside: I love both.
Best go-to writing snack or beverage when you need a creative boost?
I have a penchant and weakness for chocolates and chips (junk! food!), paired with a chocolate drink or good ol’ plain water. Yes, I’ll have all three at the same time, thank you very much.
If your writing could be represented by a song, what song would it be and why?
Oh my gosh. This is a hard one! *groans* Each story I write is different. The mood I am in when I write each scene or chapter is different. Like for “Love % Of”, I wanted something dark but also romantic and haunting. I think one of the songs that would best represent it is TEN’s “Nightwalker.”
Then for “The Secret Wife”, I’d go for something cute and bubbly like “You’re My Love Girl” by KEN and “A Fine Day” by Lee Jun Young.
And “The Pop Idol, His NDA, and Me” would be something meaningful and romantic, but also fun like “Love Code [1+1]” by Vincent Blue and “Delicate” by Taylor Swift.
Name a funny or quirky writing habit that you have?
Oohh… good one. Pick your poison: I hold a conversation with myself. I can never write with music turned on, except when it’s classical or instrumental. I write some scenes longhand and my pen has to be Dong-A My Gel 0.5, black. I’ve been using it since college and I have never looked back since.
What’s the most unexpected place you’ve found inspiration for a story or character?
Mostly it’s the people I meet. They’re an amalgam of those people and traces of them can be found in the characters I write.
If you could choose any fictional world to live in as a writer, which one would it be and what kind of stories would you create there?
I’d definitely live in Maroon City, the heart of Maroon Island! I think it’s such a fun and interesting place: vibrant yet cozy. Plus, they’re very big on their supernatural tales and beliefs! I think everyday there would be an adventure. I’ve been creating stories set in that fictional world since college days and I’m really, really loving it.
